Horse & Carriage Rides in Historic New Smyrna Beach

As part of "Christmas on Canal Street", there were Horse & Carriage Rides for all. They traveled south on Riverside Drive in front of the Night Swan Intracoastal B&B, passed the City Marina, and west on Washington Street. It was fun for all. The day was beautiful! Hope you can join us next time!

Plymouth/Chrysler Prowler Comes to New Smyrna Beach

Have you heard of the Turkey Rod Run Car Show in Daytona Beach? Over Thanksgiving Weekend, in November 2009, there were 4812 cars registered for the 36th Annual Car Show. One model in particular, the Plymouth/Chrysler Prowler, posed for photos at the Night Swan Intracoastal Bed and Breakfast. We love these hotrod sportsters! A total of 11,702 were built from 1997 to 2002.

We would like to invite other Automobile Clubs to congregate at the Night Swan Intracoastal B&B. Let us know if you are aware of any groups that would enjoy the relaxed atmosphere on the Intracoastal Waterway in Historic New Smyrna Beach!

Come follow a strange and eerie path of fun to the excitement in the Canal Street Historic District of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Join us, the day before Halloween, Friday October 30, 2009, 6 to 9pm, for a special fun event, including “Yarns of the Strange Kind” featuring live from PBS Television & Mysteries Magazine, Florida’s own Master of the Weird, Charlie Carlson, author of the best seller, "Weird Florida" at Nuns and Roses. Plus...At the Night Swan Intracoastal Bed & Breakfast, Florida's leading Cryptozoologist and Monster Hunter, Scott Marlowe, as seen on "MonsterQuest" and "Is It True"?

Wear your walking shoes to enjoy the tour of the New Smyrna Beach Historic Canal Street downtown that will include mystery and historical stories performed by recreated personalities from our city’s past. The eerie path of fun down Canal Street will be narrated by Richard Sturge, a director of the New Smyrna Museum of History. Also a hayride or the city’s water taxi will transport the participants between our district’s B&B’s Nuns & Roses and the Night Swan on the Intracoastal.

The event will end with a 56 minute TV preview from the PBS show, "Weird Florida: Roads Less Traveled", featuring Florida’s own Master of the Weird, Charlie Carlson and sidekick Miss Scarlet at Nuns & Roses beginning at 8pm.

Halloween Saturday, October 31, 2009 – Halloween Scavenger Hunt @ 2:00 PM followed by New Smyrna Beach City’s Annual Halloween Parade on Canal Street and Costume Judging @4:00 PM, by parks and recreation department of New Smyrna Beach. Businesses and nonprofits will be handing out candy for the trick or treaters.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Florida Bed & Breakfast Welcomes Business Travelers

Teri has visited the Night Swan Intracoastal B&B three times in the last three months. She comes to the area for business. She has her favorite room, so she just e-mails to let us know when she is coming. Our wireless internet is a help to her day and night. When she comes "home" in the evening after a day of work, she can relax on her private deck, or on the porch swing, or out on the 160-ft, 2-story dock. GUEST VISITS GRANDMOTHER at New Smyrna Beach Florida BED and Breakfast

Holly stayed at the Night Swan Intracoastal B&B in September, while visiting her grandmother. She was also escaping her very stressful job in the "big city" up north. After a wonderful therapeutic massage on her first day, you could see her relaxed feeling take over her mind, body, and spirit.

Next time she visits, hopefully her grandmother will be able to join us for breakfast, or take in a play at the local theater.

NEW GUESTS to a Florida Bed and Breakfast

The Night Swan Intracoastal B&B hosted guests from China this week! They arrived unexpectedly by SUV, pulling a boat that would be perfect for the Intracoastal Waterway. They call Texas home, however they have been living and working in China for the better part of the last 12 years. Shannon and Robert have a 4-year old son, Haydon, and they enjoy boating and fishing.

It was great getting to know them during their stay for several days.

Next time, they should try the Dolphin View Restaurant by boat, along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Night Swan goes GREEN!

NIGHT SWAN INTRACOASTAL BED AND BREAKFAST GOES GREEN!

On June 23, 2009, the Night Swan Intracoastal Bed and Breakfast became a certified Florida Green Lodging Property, earning a One Palm status. The Night Swan is currently the only bed and breakfast in Volusia, Flagler, and Orange counties to be certified as part of the Florida Green Lodging Program.

To become a designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program, hotels must implement a variety of green practices. These practices include, but are not limited to, water conservation measures through low flow plumbing fixtures, a linen reuse program, and energy efficiency. The waste reduction criteria are met by providing the opportunity to recycle, purchasing items in bulk, purchasing recycled materials, and by recycling ink and toner cartridges. All designated properties must also use green cleaners and high efficiency air filters.

Launched in March 2004, the Florida Green Lodging Program establishes environmental guidelines for hotels and motels to conserve natural resources and prevent pollution. In 2007, Governor Crist signed three executive orders initiating state energy-use policies, including one that requires state agencies and departments to hold meetings and conferences only at hotels with the Florida Green Lodging Program designation as of January 1, 2008, whenever possible.

The Night Swan is excited about being on the forefront of resource conservation and encourages their guests to carry on the efforts at their own homes after a relaxing and romantic get away at the bed and breakfast. For green wise travelers what better option than an environmentally friendly inn on the tranquil Indian River in historic, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Space Shuttle Launch

Did you see the Space Shuttle rise into the night sky on Friday, August 28? It lit up the sky like fireworks! From our 2-story dock in New Smyrna Beach, the northern trajectory keeps it in view from south to north for longer than the 2 minutes before the boosters drop in the Atlantic Ocean. Then the rumble comes. It was a clear night, so the rumble lasted extra long. Scroll down for a photo from NASA.gov.

Space Shuttle Viewing at the Night Swan!

Come and join us on our spacious, two story, 160ft dock on the Indian River for a spectacular and rare night launch of the space shuttle, Discovery! The launch is set for Friday, August 28 at 11:59pm. Enjoy a cold beverage and gaze at the stars with us in anticipation of this exciting event. There are not many opportunities left to be a part of the excitement that surrounds a launch, so take advantage of this while you can!
