Space Shuttle Launch

Space Shuttle Discovery launched successfully on Monday morning, April 5, at 6:21am. There were about 20 Bed & Breakfast Guests on our 160-ft, 2-story dock for the exciting lift-off of STS-131! It was beautiful to see the morning sun on the contrail of the Space Shuttle. It seemed to last forever......

There was an extra-wide glow behind the orbiter after the boosters separated, 2 minutes into the launch. An engineer on our dock described it as the sun reflecting off the sonic waves! I had never seen that before! The sky was gorgeous, and kept getting brighter by the minute.

A guest mentioned that they explained where we could see the Space Station in the sky just prior to the launch. I was busy preparing for 7am breakfast and did not know to be out there looking. Dusk and dawn are the best times to see the Space Station in the sky, as I understand.
